Over the past few weeks, I have photographed a variety of substances that someone could easily find in an alcoholic’s home. I created this mini portfolio to visually reflect upon some of the heartbreaking truths surrounding alcohol addiction. Often when people talk about alcohol dependency, they focus solely on the addict. Instead, I wanted to visually represent how this disease unfolds from the perspective of the individuals closest to the addict. I considered what it would be like to live with an alcoholic. What would an individual see on a daily basis? How would this experience be different from a household of non-alcoholics? I want the viewer to be able to see through their eyes [the addict’s family] and take this journey with them.
