Mobile Application Prototype
Rockingham Bicycle + Fabrication
Rockingham Bicycle + Fabrication was founded in 2002 in a backyard bicycle shop in Stokesville, VA. We pride ourselves on our small-business roots, with a passion for designing and building high-end carbon fiber mountain and gravel bikes that were destined for greatness.
Our bikes have won international and local competitions from the Enduro World Series, US Big Mountain Enduro Championships, and Red Bull Rampages. Our proven success has catapulted us into a worldwide brand with the recognition that started in our backyard of Massanutten, Snowshoe, and Bryce Bike Parks.
The Problem
Rockingham Bicycle + Fabrication lacks a mobile-friendly website. Opportunities for mobile-friendly sites are growing larger every day. Mobile traffic makes up 54% of all internet users worldwide, and more users are expected to access the Internet through their mobile phones than their desktops by the end of 2022. Yet with that level of upward mobility, recent studies show that only 20% small businesses of have websites optimized for mobile devices. In order for Rockingham Bicycle + Fabrication to achieve global success they need to have a mobile-first website.
The Solution
The MDMS 528 Project Team was pleased to provide Rockingham Bicycle + Fabrication a proposal for a “mobile first” site project designed to bolster their small business success in Virginia, as well as move their business worldwide.
The MDMS 528 Project Team provided its expertise to Rockingham Bicycle and Fabrication throughout an 8-week website and mobile app development project. The project included developing, designing, hosting, and maintaining an e-commerce website with features including a custom bike builder with frame measurements, direct order of frames, parts, and builds, a retail outlet locator, live chat contact, video, an online catalog, and a blog. In addition, the team developed a mobile application prototype, retaining as many of the features from the website as possible. The full proposal is accessible below.
